Stanza 1

The cardboard show me how it was

When the two girl cousins went paddling,

each one holding one of my mother's hand,

And she the big girl- so,  twelve years or so.

all three stood still to smile through their hair

At the uncle with the camera. A sweet face,

My mother's, that was before I was born.

Ans the sea, which appears to have changed less,

washed their terribly transient feet.

Stanza 2

 Some twenty thirty later

She'd laugh at the snapshot. She" Betty

And Dolly ", She'd say and look how they

Dressed up for the beach. " The sea holiday

was her past, mine is her laughter. Both wry

with the laboured seas of loss.

Stanza 3

Now She' been dead nearly as many years

as that girl lived. and of this circumstance

there is nothing to say at all.

Its silence silence.

ExplanationI can know from the photo what it felt like when two cousin sisters were singing in the water holding my mother's arms one by one; And mother was that big girl and all three stood still, looking at uncle standing with camera, smiling through her hair, my mother's face was very sweet when I was not yet born and the world seems to have changed very little and Washing their feet overly short term.

After about twenty thirty years she laughs looking at the photo Look at the daughter Look at Dolly. Look how they were dressed for a beach holiday in those days. Holidays by the sea had become a thing of their past, but for me their laughter became a thing of the past and at this loss, we both barely tried to look normal. do

Nothing changed with the ocean today Mother was overjoyed with her cousin Betty Dolly. For the poetess and the mother, it was a past event and after the great loss of defeat, both tried to overcome it at their level.
